One of the hardest things I've found with a dairy and soya free diet is the lack of dessert options and therefore I've detailed a number of options here (both home made and bought ideas).
- Sponge cake - As far as I'm aware this will have to be homemade because shop-bought ones contain dairy or soya, although I've now found a sainsbury's freefrom one, which excludes EVERYTHING, but isn't as nice :(.
- Vanilla cupcakes - I make a batch of these and freeze in a freezer for ease when I want to give my son a treat, or when others around him are having cake or chocolate.
- Lemon Sorbet - I know that you can make your own sorbet, however I believe it is hard work and as it is possible to find nice bought sorbet without dairy (do check though as some do contain it), I would recommend that you buy this. - Raspberry Sorbet - we've just found a delicious raspberry sorbet in the supermarket.
- Homemade fruit juice lollies - using the lolly moulds that are now widely available.
- Iced biscuits (can be homemade or bought and then iced and decorated).
- Pancakes - again homemade is necessary to substitute dairy and soya free ingredients.
- Flapjacks - again homemade is necessary to substitute dairy and soya free ingredients. - Scones - homemade (I always thought these were hard to make but they're actually very easy!). - Sponge Pudding (with Golden Syrup) - This is really easy to make in the microwave. |
