Ingredients (Makes about 20) 350g plan flour 1-2 tsp ground ginger 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda 110g suitable margarine 175g soft light brown sugar 1 egg 4 tbsp golden syrup | Preparation 1) Put the flour, ginger and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl and rub in the margarine. 2) Add sugar and stir in the syrup and egg to make a firm dough. 3) Roll out to 1/2cm thick and cut out required shapes. 4) Bake at 190 degrees on greased baking trays (make sure they're well spaced out as they will expand!) for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. 5) Once cooked leave for a couple of minutes before placing in a wire rack to cool. 6) Once cooled, decorate with icing as required. |
